April 1st Election Results: Logan Wins District 8 Runoff; Low Turnout in Henryetta Council Races

Voters across Oklahoma cast ballots on April 1st in several key elections, including a runoff for State Senate District 8 and local city council races in Henryetta. While the District 8 runoff saw an uptick in participation, the local elections in Henryetta revealed a concerning trend: voter turnout was alarmingly low.

In the District 8 State Senate runoff, Bryan Logan secured a win with 55.56% of the vote, defeating David Nelson. The race drew increased interest compared to earlier rounds, reflecting growing engagement in regional politics.

However, the story in Henryetta was different. Out of thousands of eligible voters, only 361 people participated in the City Council elections — a turnout that could be described as nothing short of pathetic.

In the Council Member At Large race, Shawn Buzan won decisively with 69.65%, while challenger Tristan Demmitt received 30.35%. In Ward 4, Jennifer Munholland decisively defeated Buck Sheward with 71.47% of the vote.

These results highlight how just a handful of votes can alter the course of a city’s future when most residents choose to stay home. With important decisions ahead for Henryetta, the elections serve as a stark reminder: local leadership is shaped by those who show up.
